Service
We have a lot of experience making mistakes, then correcting them. Maybe we can help you avoid a headache. Here are a few of the things we can help with:
Website Development
We make websites that work better (for everyone).
There are so many awesome websites. Unfortunately, awesomeness often means high-cost. Some aspects of the site may cause visitor frustration. Technical requirements could impose barriers or challenge the capabilities of their device. Mobile devices have limited bandwidth, screen-sizes and CPU power. It's costly, because if a site is too demanding they will quickly leave.
We develop with a real-world appreciation of the variability of devices and place an emphasis on well organized, nice looking websites that have an unambiguous purpose, are easy to use — and really fast.
Technically our code is less complex, and there is use less code than you find on most sites. SEO is built in. Minimal special effects (if any) means it costs less to develop and doesn'tt require frequent maintenance by a team of specialists.
Optional services (ask if you don't see it)
- Consultation (it's a confusing worldwide web of choices to sort)
- Website management options (hosting setup, maintenance, etc.)
- Email (acct. and application setup)
- Search engine submittal
Hybrid Website
Most people agree that ‘trouble-free performance’ is the most important feature of a website. We develop hybrid-design sites because they work — and they work for everyone. "Responsive" code allows for progressive ehnhancement, so content will display properly on small screens and large ones.
Also, our sites are not built on a complex database back-end. We use a simple flat-file (static) structure for reliable performance and dramatic speed. Dynamic features like interactive feedback, auto-changing content, modest animations, etc., are accomplished with CSS, PHP, and occasionally – a little magic (i.e., sleight-of-hand). We avoid javascript to ensure greater device compatibility, accessibility, simplicity and performance. A template-based production process facilitates site-wide changes and quick updates.
Hybrid is not right for everyone of course, a small simple site is the ideal candidate. If you're wondering whether a hybrid site is appropriate for your situation, please contact us to discuss.
Hybrid vs. Database Website
One important aspect of our hybrid approach is that the site doesn't require a database backend (or the requisite expert database management staff). Most sites are database driven, all the large ones are. A database website creates a webpage dynamically each time there is a request from a web-browser (user). These sites use (lots of) javascript to track users, create interactive features and other special effects. The popular DIY websites feature CMS, making it possible for the site owner to add content without knowledge of HTML. There are other reasons to use a database, and for many applications or large or complex enterprises (e.g., Amazon.com) a database website is essential. But, there are disadvantages also.
Database Website Disadvantage$
- Performance-lag. Powerful server infrastructure can help improve (e.g., AWS).
- Extensive training is required for programmers and site management team.
- Database systems are complex. Time-consuming set up. Difficult to manage.
- Damage to the database may corrupt, or take-down, entire site.
- Substantial hardware and software start-up and ongoing costs.
Hybrid Website Advantage$
- Works for everyone. Including people with old computers or "disabilities."
- Responsive design (for adaptability across different screen sizes).
- Handcrafted, clean, lean code for reliable functionality and high-speed performance.
- SEO attractive. Search-engines love our code.
- Future-friendly, W3C standards compliant HTML5 and CSS3.
- Database free simplicity, management does not require a staff of database specialists.
- Javascript free ensures wider accessibility and better performance.
- Stress free.
Identity (Logo Design)
You only get one chance to make a good first impression.
A properly designed logo is a strategic long-term image (icon) that visually represents your business's identity, or product's brand. Identity development involves competitive research and analysis, positioning and strategy decisions, among other considerations.
Identity support materials include; signage, stationary (e.g., business cards), tradeshow display, advertising specialty items (e.g., t-shirts, mugs), and so on.
An identity strategy coordinates your marketing efforts to ensure a unified, cohesive appearance. Determining consistency guidelines also can be helpful when faced with various applications of your logo, or when it is used by different departments or individuals (e.g., sales reps). In these cases, a corporate reference document, or ‘Logo & Brand Identity Guidelines’ can be helpful.
TopMarketing Collateral
We've helped many different types of businesses by creating effective marketing and communication tools to help reinforce their brand.
Marketing collateral represents a wide-range of media used to help support your sales efforts. For example, advertising design and media placement, brochures and flyers, catalogs and technical literature, packaging and label design, presentation materials, trade show display, and other communication tools used to support your ‘brand.’
TopRosemount System 3™ Process Control Software Architecture. This technical illustration provides a visual overview of an especially complex software system. System 3™ was developed for management of volatile liquids (e.g., oil and gas refineries, chemical industry, etc.). The diagram was used in several ways. Large-format posters for trade shows and sales presentations, and separate sections of the illustration were extracted for more targeted marketing; collateral pieces, manuals, instructional tools.
Documentation
Identifying your target audience, then organizing and simplifying complex data are important first-steps in developing successful technical communication materials.
We have collaborated on hundreds of complex technical documentation projects with engineers, technicians and communication officers across many different industries.
If you want your project professionally printed we can help also — vendor selection (bidding), press-run supervision, etc. We have directly managed many, many hundreds of print projects.
